Therapy

Through a collaborative and client-centred approach, I work with children, adolescents, and students/young adults to address a range of emotional and behavioural challenges. Drawing on evidence-based therapeutic techniques, I create a safe and supportive environment to explore concerns, develop coping strategies, and promote positive well-being. My heart is to empower individuals to reach their full potential and thrive emotionally, socially and in the school/university/work environment.

Academic optimisation

Comprehensive study techniques are taught to enhance the learning experience and improve information retention. Stress management techniques provide practical tools to handle academic pressure and assessment stress. Sessions focus on time management, study techniques, memory improvement, summary techniques, and stress management.

Subject Choice Assessment

I provide Grade 9 learners with subject choice assessments to assist them in making well-informed decisions about their subject selections for the Gr 10-12 academic years. Through the assessment process, learners gain self-knowledge regarding their interests, personality preferences, abilities, and values. This self-knowledge, combined with information about the world of studies and work, empowers learners to make confident and well-informed choices for their future. I guide and support learners who may find the subject selection process stressful or uncertain, helping them gain clarity and confidence. The assessment includes psychometric tools that evaluate personal interests, preferences, abilities, and values. I tailor the assessment to meet each learner's specific needs, ensuring a comprehensive and personalised approach. The feedback session is also valuable to empower a learner and help them gain self-knowledge to navigate life.

Career Development

Career counselling empowers one to make informed decisions about one's future by using psychological assessments and interviewing techniques. The career choice assessment provides guided support, empowering one to utilise personalised information in the decision-making process.

The assessment includes a combination of psychometric instruments and qualitative tools tailored to the client's needs. This includes a personality preference assessments, interest profiles, academic/cognitive evaluations, and additional qualitative tools if needed.

Psycho-educational Assessment

The assessment process includes the following:

  • An intake interview with the parents/guardian

  • A comprehensive parent intake questionnaire

  • Classroom observation and teacher interviews/questionnaires (as per need)

  • Psychoeducational assessment (usually between 4 - 6 hours, can be split over two days)

  • Report (This may take between 2-3 weeks to compile after the feedback session)

  • Feedback session to parents

Educational institutions frequently mandate such evaluations. The WCED/IEB/Universities entities necessitate it when a learner/student seeks specific adjustments or supports to reach their full capabilities, encompassing challenges in reading, spelling, composing, math, and task pace. Depending on the client's needs, a test battery might comprise assessments such as:
